Creating the Blueprint to Bring Social Media into Your Organization, part 1

For the next five months, BMA Chicago will lead workshop participants through the maze of planning, executing and measuring social media in the marketing mix for our case study companies; one corporate side company and one service side company:


This workshop-style series will answer the hard questions no one has and give participants concrete take-aways.

Sima Dahl, marketing consultant, social media strategist and personal branding expert, with over 20 years of corporate marketing experience will moderate the series.  Be ready for sore wrists from lots of writing and typing all that she and our experts will teach you.

January 19
In Part 1 of this 5-part social media breakfast seminar series, we’ll get to know our case study company, learn how to identify their target markets and decide on the tools that will work, what the measures of success are, and decide what the social media team should look like.

About Part 1 Experts

Rachel Baker has her own web development firm and brings deep technical expertise in SM implementation.

Dennis Glenn also runs his own firm focused on education and teaches SM at the Lake Forest Grad. School of Business. He can speak to the entire spectrum of strategy.
Amber Porter Cox has previously run her own consulting firm, also teaches at Columbia College Chicago, and currently works in digital marketing at GolinHarris
February 16
We’ll examine the psychology of content and learn the steps to creating usable content, see how our case study companies can re-purpose content, lay out a plan and timetable and examine the tools available to make it happen. 
March 16
We look at the law and how to avoid legal mistakes.  We’ll come up with policies, rules and procedures for our case study company's employees and community. 
April 20
Dive into social media’s role in public relations – crisis, image, community building, media relations.
May 18
In May, the series will culminate with real measurement on the case study companies and how you can measure your own efforts.

You do not need to attend all 5 in the series but we encourage you to do so in order to get the maximum benefit and savings.

Sima Dahl is a consultant, speaker and author. Rachel Baker is owner of Plugged In Consulting a full service web development and consulting firm.  She works with small businesses and non-profits to create an effective online presence. About Dennis Glenn
Dennis Glenn, MFA is the former Assistant Dean for Distributed Education in the School of Communication at Northwestern University has created a consulting company Discourse LLC to serve the healthcare industry. He is currently building on-line virtual patient simulations to prepare surgeons for re-certification. In addition he created the curriculum and teaches Social Media at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
Dennis has been a professional photographer and film director and is still a member of the Directors Guild of America. Mr. Glenn has presented at numerous conferences each year including the ASTD International Conference, ASTD TechConference, Distance Learning Conference, Association of College and Research Libraries Conference, Internet2 Meetings, E-Learn Conference, Educause and the Workforce Performance conference.

About Amber Porter Cox

Amber Porter Cox is a VP of Interactive Media at GolinHarris, where she leads a team of designers, developers and digital strategists to impact each business with custom solutions designed to impact the bottom line. She specializes in social media and integrated digital marketing communications, supporting clients in a wide array of industries, including healthcare, CPG, and professional services.

Over the course of her career she has also provided strategic counsel and managed digital execution for large and small brands familiar names such as Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Bank of America, Coca-Cola,, SAP, Chicago Board of Options Exchange and the . Ms. Cox has developed the first inter-departmental course for the The School of Media Arts at Columbia College, utilizing knowledge of Interactive Media and Marketing Communications.

Amber holds a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing Communications, focused in Advertising, from Columbia College; with a Certification in Interactive Marketing from the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, at DePaul University.

A Veteran of the U.S. Army; in 1999 she was trained in information systems management (which still influences her work today) at the largest communications-electronics facility in the free world, and honorably served a combination of seven years in the Reserves and on Active Duty as a member of the Signal Corps, leading teams to implement technology used to support Army communications. She also served a tour of service during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.
